NSW Rural Fire Service (NSWRFS)

As part of a major upgrade to its headquarters, the NSW Rural Fire Service (NSWRFS) called for the installation of a digital video wall as a communication and operational information display tool. The wall was to be integral to the new building design and used as the central information point for all workers in the event of an emergency..

Its system caters for up to 32 digital video inputs and is supported by 14 computer systems and 4 main computers. 2.7mm transition gap between displays, 32 inputs including graphs, statistics, weather predictions, live feeds from various sites, and contact details.

100 x X462UN, 46-inch NEC Ultra Narrow LCD display.
Video matrix solution and control system. ENERGY STAR 5.0 rating equipment and carbon footprint metre

The installation was completed in three weeks and the entire project was finalised within seven. The video wall is being used to display maps of affected fire areas; conduct team briefings; display action plans for each team and upcoming activities; present to various involved organisations; and monitor news.

Commissioner Fitzsimmons concluded: “Our new information display system will assist the NSWRFS to deliver on our organisation’s mission: to protect the community and our environment and to minimise the impact of fire and other emergencies by providing the highest standards of training, community education, prevention and operational capability.”

The Australian Department of Defence

The Australian Department of Defence appointed Eo Design to design and install audiovisual systems for the Defence College Executive meeting rooms and training rooms. Eo Design specified zero halogen, non PVC flame retardant “green” cable along with eco friendly low energy, low heat amplifiers, display systems and energy efficient LED lighting. Pictured below is the Executive Conference Room with Eo Lighting’s MR16 halogen lamp replacements, model 506C.

When the boardroom was in use, the previous lamps were consuming over 600watts of power. Eo lamps have reduced this down to 66watts. Sean Thompson head of AV for the College is delighted with the end result.
